Our first FSTD news story is six months in advance, publishing now in October 2023 the biggest political news story of April 2024:  The Two-party System Collapses.

The Two-party System Collapses (in April, 2024)

(Schenectady, NY, October 9, 2023)  Donald Trump is no longer supported by the Republican Party as their presidential candidate in the 2024 general election, due to his criminal charges, criminal convictions, and his failing health.  Though vigorously denied by Mr Trump and his hired physicians, his failing mind shows in his slurred words and incoherent statements about who he is and what he will do if elected.

President Joe Biden, due to his flagging energy and health issues normally associated with the elderly, has decided to accept the advice of his closest friends and political allies to support a Democratic primary debate plan to include at least five proposed Democratic presidential candidates.  Although such a primary process is deemed necessary, a slate favored by President Biden and Democratic Party leaders has been leaked to the secret reporters of the Votomotive Advanced News Services:  The slate already favored by the DNC is Amy Klobuchar for President and Cory Booker for Vice President.  Besides both being persons of outstanding character and intellect and devoted to public service, these two together are thoroughly credible and attract, like giant magnets of our times, the votes of young and old, females and males, the liberal, the majority and minorities  -- and conservatives who have become repelled by the extreme right threats of violence.  We do not operate a betting service, but you may place your bets wherever you wish.  Others are qualified, but they have political liabilities that Klobuchar and Booker do not carry.

Commentary on the Two-party System Collapses

(Schenectady, NY October 9, 2023)  Background:  Sane and honest Republicans have been tearing their hair out worried about how to get rid of Trumpolini, the cartoon clown lunatic dictator who they promoted to the office of President and cannot seem to get rid of no matter if he betrays our country or commits high crimes.  Sane and honest Democrats like, or love, President Joe Biden and his accomplishments but are worried that he is aging fast and could lose key votes from young voters who are genuinely anxious to have vigorous leadership to carry us all safely into a bright future.  Here is the problem:  Political science tells us that politics, especially cold-blooded power politics and economic competition are both like a chessboard.  The object of the game is to capture the king and the game is not over until a king is captured.  Then another game can begin.  But as long as both kings are in the game, still standing on the chessboard, meaningless moves and countermoves can go on indefinitely.  In order to start a new game, or a new beginning, one king must be politically dead, or at least dismissed, no longer in the game and if not politically dead at least retired.   Millions of Americans who want our elections system to work for us so that we can have a real democracy are struggling with a feeling of being stuck, entrapped in an old pattern that we cannot change.  We have not figured out how to break away from the old and failing faith in the rules of the two-party system.  Professor Eddie Glaude Jr (Princeton) was exceptionally eloquent in his recent personal and heartfelt expression (on MSNBC) of the frustration generated by our inability to "do something new" and break the stranglehold of bitter, distrustful opposition and replace it with the necessary spirit of compromise and trust in the principles of democratic government.  But the reason we are in a condition of "stalemate" is because we still have two kings standing on the board.  One of them has to become politically dead in order for a new game to begin.  And in order to begin reform of the badly damaged two-party system both kings must be politically dead.  This is why you got the news in advance for April, 2024.
